TBCSS: S02E04 – Broken Illusion
The wearing march that brought the knights deep into Noland, finally leads them to the Dark Cave, an ancient cavern that was once used as a dungeon. It was a matter of common knowledge that the entrance to the cave was supposed to be controlled by two guardians: Black Dragon and White Dragon. Black Dragon is the one that attacked them earlier so it’s not such a surprise for them to not see it there, but the fact that there’s no trace of White Dragon worries the kings a lot, because clearly something bad has happened.
Venturing into the cave is not an easy task, it is tortuous and labyrinthine, full of danger and at risk of collapsing. Along the way the kings come across the remains of the prisoners and of the bandits who had entered through the ages to seek refuge, long before the cavern first harbored the sword.
They all still hope that this will turn out to be just a big nightmare and that Dorus was just told lies. Shena’s ring is able to detect the spot where the chest containing the sword had been placed, so they all follow her lead until they get there to find that Dorus was right, the chest is not where it’s supposed to be! So Sendor really did take it away, he really wants to star a war!
The kings can’t understand Sendor’s plan, how did he take the chest out? Could he open it? How did he even manage to enter the cave and find the chest in the first place? And what happened to White Dragon? Our heroes are lost in confusion trying to figure out what to do next until Rahed, the most practical and decisive of them all says: “There’s no time for questions, we must act! Let’s run to the sorcerer’s castle, we must do it fast and together, because if he really has the Black Crystal Sword we will need all the power of our weapons!”
4. BROKEN ILLUSION
