TBCSS: S02E05 – All That Is True

The summer night sky is wearing its best dress tonight, it’s made of a smooth and silky fabric of an intense blue color, quilted by millions of sequins of shimmering stars. The sweet moon gently reflects the sun’s rays on the land and with them its indiscreet gaze that beholds the windows of the castle, where, in contrast to the feeble light of a candle, two figures are taking shape, two shadows, approaching in a tender embrace.

It’s a rendezvous, a stolen moment of a denied happiness between two lovers, who relish each other with all their senses, who absorb the proximity of each other’s body with religious devotion and endless admiration. But there is something dark hovering over their love, a ban, a prohibition, a curse that doesn’t allow them to be happy. A question of ethics, laws, customs and ancient codes… that embrace is illegal, their feelings are illegal.

The girl, responsible and compliant, tries to comply with her duty, while he, young and instinctive, refuses to suppress what he feels and doesn’t care about what might happen, he would give up anything to live that moment, to give expression to what burns inside his heart. Truth is the only sovereign he recognizes, their love is true and therefore it is not wrong for them to be together, they’ll work it out together, they will rise above those horrible laws, they will undermine those old beliefs ennobled by their feelings:

To my heart you’re all that is true and I won’t give up on you,
loving you is the only thing I’m good at, let me do what I do best.

Hearing these words, smelling the scent of him, the girl surrenders to his kissing and, cuddled by the beating of his heart she gives in to passion, which is much too strong.

Indulging in their shared desire the couple gives birth to a baby boy, he’s the light of their life, a tender little creature proof of their bond. Being a family makes the lovers feel invincible like nothing can stand in their way, as soon as the boy will be old enough they will unveil the truth and present their child to the community that will certainly acknowledge their relationship.

But happiness is a far too fragile flower, the baby boy gets sick a dies. The girl takes this death as a sign, as a warning, as a punishment for daring to defy her laws and her destiny. The man takes this unfair death as an insult, as a sick joke of the devious fate, and gets mad, anger fills his heart and finds its way up to his head, grudge eats his mind piece by piece until there are no rags of sanity left in him. Madness, complete madness and darkness is what’s left of this young man.

5. ALL THAT IS TRUE

[Storyteller] Standing by the window
two shadows are getting closer
tight in a warm embrace
Swayinʼ under the moonlight
caressing each others hands
with such a peaceful grace

Gently she leans now her head on his chest
feeling his heartbeat she lets her hair down

[Woman] My love I canʼt do this
we knew it from the start
i just canʼt be with you
Youʼre not from around here,
youʼre not one of my kind,
this loveʼs against the law

[Storyteller] He kisses her forehead then shifts to her neck
she starts breathing faster the passionʼs too strong

[Man and Woman] To my heart youʼre all that is true (I feel you)
and I wonʼt give up on you
loving you is all I can do (I know)
youʼre all thatʼs worth living for

[Man] My love let me love you
for nothing can come between us
not even your cruel laws
Together we can make it

untill death do us part

[Storyteller] He kisses her forehead then shifts to her neck
she starts brathing faster the passionʼs too strong

[Man and Woman] To my heart youʼre all that is true (I feel you)
and I wonʼt give up on you

youʼre all thatʼs worth living for

To me youʼre my air
youʼre all that I see
my angel of love

youʼre all that I need

[Man] After this union a baby is born
weʼll secretly raise him until heʼs ready
to prove to the world our love

[Storyteller] —[The new family were happy, peace reigned among them, they lived united in the hope that some day they could share their joy with the world, but sadly the baby became sick and died. They never recovered from their loss and eventually this shock led them to insanity]—
