I can’t update this blog quite as much as I wished in the beginning, I’m working on how to be more constant with my posts, but in the meantime I think I can manage to keep up with this: a monthly column to share with you my thoughts on a couple of the things I’ve been liking lately. Every month I will make a list of things, clothes, movies, people, foods that I particularly liked, and who knows, maybe you’ll find something you’re enjoying too!
Let’s get started!
Fitbit Charge HR
I bought this smartband on Amazon, it’s a bit pricey, but I have to say that I’m really loving it! This bracelet can do a number of nice things for you, like keeping track of how many steps you take, tracking your sleep, checking your heart rate at any time and seeing how many calories you burn at rest and during workouts. The CHARGE HR can connect with your phone via Bluetooth and transfer all your data to the Fitbit App, that will arrange them in daily graphics and diagrams; you can set your goals and check your possible weight loss progress (especially if you own Fitbit ARIA too, a wireless scale that also connects with the App every time you step on it, so you can’t pretend you didn’t see the number on the display and “cheat”!). I don’t know, I find it very useful whenever I hit the gym to keep my heart rate in check, it may not be exactly as nice as a Tiffany jewel, but it’s not even too bad to look at.
Inkstinct Tattoo App
Speaking of apps, you must know I’m a sucker for tattoos, I love them and among my all time favorite things there’s the sight of a nice fellow with a well-done sleeve! If you like tattoos too or you’re thinking about getting one done but you’re still dubious about the placement, the design or the style to choose, you should check Inkstinct Tattoo App, it’s free and it’s like a fun fair for tatt junkies. It has an endless gallery of pictures for you to find inspiration and, with the map feature, you can look for the artists in your area that best suit your need and taste. Give it a shot and if anyone of gets an Ancient Bard themed tatto then please let me see it! I know a guy got my name tattooed, he showed me the picture on instagram and it was socking and flattering to see such an amazing devotion, awesome guy!
Sennheiser Momentum on-ear
You obviously know I love music and a good listening experience makes me enjoy its magic even more, so I got these awesome headphones, the Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear, as a gift to myself for my birthday. They don’t sound as good as the Over-Ear version, but they’re great nonetheless. The sound is very clear and detailed, they have a slight dip in the midrange frequencies, while bass and treble are very emphasized, but I don’t usually mind a “V” shaped sound. I got them in red, don’t you think they’re cute? They’re very comfortable to wear, they’re well designed and they’re easy to carry around (unlike the Over-Ear version headphones which can be too bulky), they’re lightweight and don’t press too strongly on the ears. Big thumbs up from me! If you’re interested in these headphones you can click here, if you buy them I will earn a commission with no additional costs for you.
The Gentle Storm – The Diary
Ok, this one was released, like, 3 days ago, but I already know it by heart. The Gentle Storm is Arjen Lucassen and Anneke Van Giersbergen (see here what happened when I went to see them in Bologna) and The Diary is their debut album, although anything made by these two legends can hardly be categorized as a debut. There’s nothing to say, it’s a stunning record, and every track is rendered in two manners, a gentle version and a storm version: genius! For now, I’m digging more the storm version because I feel like it has more dynamics and builds the drama a bit more, but don’t get me wrong, the gentle version is sublime too, the arrangements are pure elegance. Anneke is brilliant, her voice is just something superior and I love how she gives different flavors and the same song in the two different versions. Every song is a highlight, but my favorites must me Endless Sea and The Moment which has a little reprise in the last track Epilogue: The Final Entry that is so touching I feel like crying EVERY time I hear it. 10+!
