My name is Jem

As some of you may know, I recently joined forces again with Trick or Treat for their latest album Re-Animated, a compilation of metal covers of some of the most famous cartoons and anime theme songs (mostly from the ’80s).

When Alessandro Conti asked me if I wanted to be part of the album I couldn’t say no,  I mean, could a collaboration be any more fun? It’s cartoons we’re talking about! All the songs they chose are a part of all of us and can’t fail to bring back many great and heartwarming childhood memories. I was especially happy to sing Jem, because for me it evoked that nostalgic mood the album is infused with. I guess the Italian version of the theme song is different from the original though, so it might not be as evocative for non-Italians as it is for me.

The funny thing is that I’ve always loved the beginning “I mio nome è Jem, sono una cantante” (“My name is Jem, I am a singer”) but the rest of the lyrics are totally awkward and I know for a fact that Alle hates it and he’s not too keen on singing female character songs! Thank you Alle for being brave and letting me do this anyway 😀

You can listen to the cover by clicking play on the video above, and if you like it you can buy a physical copy of the album here or a digital one here.

I hope you don’t mind a little jump back in the ’80s! I’m gonna leave bits of sparkles right here… there you go, you’re welcome
